Busy Busy and More Busy

Sorry for the lack of silence over the last 3 weeks. I know being busy is never a good excuse, but with me being in a new role and 2 weeks ago finding out I now have even more responsibility to contend with, things have been hectic. I am still enjoying it though. Staff Training has been occuring over the last 10 days. This is also why I haven't blogged in a while. I've been leading every session that has been occuring. I am no longer a lot inimidated to speak in front of a big group of people! There has been a lot of guest speakers and it just hasn't been me, but I do announcements and the "serious" aspects of the staff manual, and I lead the meal times and all sorts of other stuff. I deal with discipline issues and hand out work projects and the list goes on and on. Camps start on Monday and i can't believe that it is coming so fast. I've been at camp for 2 months already- my summer is half done! This last week, I experienced the biggest feelings of inadequacy and inexperience that I have ever felt....it was literally crushing. God is good though, and through the speaker we have had at our evening worship chapels, God used her to speak directly to me.....or so it seemed. God has choosen me specifically to be here for this summer and what looks like at least off and on for the next 1. 5 years. I may not have the experience that someone in my position usually holds, but God has given me the talents and abilities to make up for the experiences so that I can do my job effectively. I need to continually admit that I'm not able to do this with out God and if it wasn't for Him, I wouldn't be at this camp right now. I need to cling to this fact and hold fast to it. Thank you to everyone who has been praying for me the last few weeks. Please continue to do so as my role fully evolves come Monday. Please pray that I will find a healthy balance between leader and friend among my staff as well. And I will try to update more than every 3 weeks!

In Charge and with a Head Injury

As the title suggests, I am the camp director until Thursday (that's because I go home for my sister's graduation), and I managed to get a concussion on Friday. I made it through the fundraising event on saturday, but Daniel had to drive my car for me on the way back to camp in the evening. I don't think he minded driving though. My head is causing me some problems, but i am slowly feeling better. However, this afternoon i was kicked out of the office and sent back to my cabin to sleep. Daniel and a few of my other friends who are in the counselor work program are gone on a canoe trip for the next few days; it has been very quiet with out them around. God is slowly but steadily producing staff for us. I did another interview today and got a few phone calls about interest in some other positions. Please keep praying for the right people to send in applications.
One more item for prayer, a good friend of my family (she is like a little sister to me) who is only 17 was diagnosed with Multiple Sclirosis (MS) on Friday. Please pray for Katie as she works through the next steps for treatment and her family as well. I had to find out over the phone and I completely felt like i was gutted...i can't imagine what her family is going through right now. I get to see her on the weekend.
Hope everyone is doing well and keeping busy!

The Camp Truck

Yesterday I got to drive the camp truck into Winnipeg to do some shopping for the camps during the summer. What I didn't expect, was that I would have to drive the brand new 2005 Ford F150 truck that the camp just acquirred before I joined the staff. Driving it was SO much fun! I always knew i was a truck girl at heart, but this just confirmed it (it was the first time i had gotten to drive a truck). I managed to drive all around the city with very little problems, and it was all good. I'm just glad that my boss trusts me enough with a $30,000 vehicle! The shopping I had to do included buying 200 Kites, 100 packages of face paints, new costumes for the drama cupboard, and buying new board games for rainy day programming ideas. My friends here at camp tomorrow night are having a games night to try out the new ones. I think it might remind me a little of the game nights at 24. And Big Brother board game has just come to Canada and can be found in Walmart of all places :)
Tomorrow I have another fundraising/public relations thing. I have to actually speak at this one i found out today. Plus i get to give away an awesome mountain bike as a prize draw. Hopefully the weather will cooperate since it is once again an outside activity. I have to leave for Winnipeg by 6:45am tomorrow morning. I'm trusting Jesus to keep me awake!
Hope everyone has a great weekend. I'll let you know how things went with the clean and green fundraiser!
