Everyday Blessings
Over the last week, the subject of Blessings and God blessing us has seemed to be at every corner i have turned. Even with church and talking about financial giving and other types of giving somehow i was able to relate it to being blessed by God. We are totally blessed by God every single day and some of these blessings are so obvious that we have taken them for granted. Lord, I don't want to take anything you have given me as for granted. Please keep me aware of your showers of blessings. Thank you that you still choose to bless us even when we don't act as we always should. Even when circumstances are bad Lord, help me to continually bless your name as well. For you are great in every circumstance in my life. Help me to know how to turn the things that you have given me into an act of worship so i can give back to you.
Mat Redman's song Blessed be Your Name has been with me constantly as well. Here are the words for those who may not be familiar with the song:
Blessed be your name in the land that is plentiful. Where your streams of abundance flow. Blessed be your name.
And blessed be your name when i'm found in the desert place. Though i walk through the wilderness. Blessed be your name.
Every blessing you pour out I'll turn back to praise. And when the darkeness closes in, Lord still i will say: Blessed be the name of the Lord, Blessed be your name. Blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be your glorious name. (chorus)
Blessed be your name when the sun's shining down on me. When the world's "all as it should be". Blessed be your name.
And blessed be your name on the road marked with suffering, though there is pain in the offering, blessed be your name
Chorus
You give and take away. You give and take away. My heart will choose to say: Lord, blessed be your name.
Lord, may these words be my daily prayer. May they also help and encourage someone else who may need the reminder of your goodness and that you are blessed in everything in our lives. Thank you just doesn't seem adequate though.
