Starting Out
This site was highly reccommended to me as a way to post a wide variety of thoughts and I thought I would see what it was like. I also thought it would be a good way to keep all my family and friends back in Canada updated on what is going on in my life and what God is teaching me at the moment.
For those of you who don't know what part of the world I am in at the moment, I am in the country of England, in a town called Luton which is a 30 minute train ride north of London (which for the geography challenged is the capital of England). I am going to university at the University of Luton until June 2005.
Now some of you maybe asking...just how did Jana end up there? Good question...when I first arrived here I was aking myself the exact same thing! I won an academic scholarship through the University of Manitoba through a sport tourism exchange program. I applied for the scholarship in February 2004 and lo and behold I ended up having the top academic grades and was given some money to come over here to study. I left Canada Sept 11,04 (I know...I had to fly on that date of all dates and I hate flying! But it was ok...for Air Canada that's saying a lot). Originally, I was only suppose to be in England until December 18, but God has strange and wonderful ways of making things happen and it now looks like I will be here at least until close to the end of June 2005.
God has brought wonderful people into my life in the first month i have been here; through the university chaplaincy and at St. Mary's Church where I am regularly attending (For those of you who are curious, the website is www.stmarysluton.org check it out). They have blessed me in so many ways and i appreciate them so much (you people know who you are and i thank you!!!).
I didn't have too many expectations when coming over here, but what few I did have, God has completely surpassed them beyond my imagination. I truly feel content and at peace and I fully know that this is where God wants me for year to come.
I think i have written to0 much for one sitting, but i get excited easily and then i write more.
Blessings to all,
Jana
